I have been having headaches for 20 years. The last 7 of those years I was in the bed 24/7. I have a son and have missed so much of his life because of being in the bed with indescribable pain. I had depression because I sought doctor after doctor with no help. At one time I took as many as 15 pills a day trying to control the headaches, all to no avail. I felt totally hopeless. A co-worker of my husband saw a story on a news show about a procedure that was helping people with major headaches even though conventional medicine wasn’t helping them. We immediately started searching. It was the Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic procedure. We searched on the internet for the closest doctor. That’s how we found Dr. Schuster. I know God sent him to me. Not only has this been successful in restoring my life and my family, Dr. Schuster is truly the most caring and understanding person I have ever met. All of my other doctors left me feeling hopeless, but Dr. Schuster was eager to see me feel better. His optimism was so encouraging. Now I have my life back and I’m enjoying getting to hang out with my son and husband.
Thanks Dr. Schuster!
Neck and Back Pain
This letter is long overdue, but none the less, is coming with great gratitude. I have had back trouble for over 20 years and have had time lapses of improvement through massage, yoga and working with a chiropractor in Florida in the early years when problems first arose. However, the past 5 years have been very difficult. I consistently woke up with low back pain. I could not walk or stand for long periods without having intense pain that would start in the low back and move on to mid and upper. I would have to sit after 20 minutes of shopping and I am only in my mid 30’s and was an athlete throughout my teens, college and 20’s. It was very depressing to go from being a tennis player who could play for 3 hours and feel great to not being able to shop or walk on tours or amusement parks without being in pain. My back and neck seemed to just get tighter and tighter over the years. I also began having headaches more often than I had ever experienced.
I was referred to you by another Atlas Orthogonal specialist in Florida and my first visit was, I believe in June. I was quite impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of yourself and reception. Of course, what most impressed me was when I drove to Savannah to meet family and tour the city and I was more comfortable driving 4 hours than I could remember and I was able to walk all day with absolutely no pain. I have never been so pleased. I was truly on cloud nine to be able to stand and walk and actually feel good. It has been 15 months now, and I continue to check in with you and when I do the stretches you have instructed me to do I continue to walk pain free. I am very blessed and grateful for your care. I have always felt that you were as interested in my health and happiness as I was. I have also lost weight which I’m sure is related to an improved health as well. Thanks again for all that you have done for me.
Back and Neck Pain
September 26, 2008
I would like to thank you for dramatically improving the health and physical well being of not only myself, but also the family and friends that I have referred to you as well.
I have been struggling with lower back pain and neck pain on and off for 10+ years, and have seen several traditional Chiropractors and Physical Therapists for these problems, none of which were cured. In fact, they all told me that that I would live with these conditions for the rest of my life.
After seeing you for two months, the pain in my neck is gone, my lower back pain is gone, and I feel better now than I have in years. I’m able to participate in activities that a “normal” 30-year-old man should be able to. Not only have you improved physical comfort, but because of you, my fiancé no longer has to listen to me complain everyday about my back and neck pain.!!
I feel confident that if I hold up my end of the deal – doing the prescribed stretches and exercising – that I will feel great for years to come.
I cannot thank you enough for what you have done for me, Dr. Schuster. You really have given me my active life back, and for that I am truly grateful.
Chronic headache and neck pain
August 25, 2009
Dear Dr. Schuster,
Nearly 32 months ago I was rear ended in an auto accident that was considered by most as relatively mediocre. In those 32 months I endured surgeries on each wrist, one elbow and an accompanying serious bout of whiplash. In those 32 months, I have suffered relentless chronic pain, fatigue, and every associated symptom one can list.
During that time I have spent an inordinate amount of time seeking relief, visiting a number of doctors, even being told that all my pain was a byproduct of depression and not of any underlying physical condition. Over this time I had reached the point of feeling that the rest of my life was going to be one long string of chronic pain and feeling very old well beyond my years.
The constant pain, fatigue and general diminishment of my quality of life were at least in my view pretty bad. To make matters worse, one pain specialist in particular that I was referred to pontificated that the chronic pain I was experiencing was the result of depression and nothing else. This certainly did not help my demeanor by any stretch of the imagination. The saving grace of seeing this doctor was that he referred me to Dr. Sally Duffy who determined I was not suffering from depression. She explained that the pain I was experiencing could likely be my atlas vertebrae being misaligned and suggested I contact you.
Barely 30 days ago I had my first appointment with you. During that appointment, you were attentive, engaging and clearly interested in getting to the root of my pain issues. In a short span of time during that appointment you uncovered several things that none of the other doctors either questioned or even mentioned. Just a few days later you adjusted my atlas vertebrae for the first time and combined with a few simple exercises you instructed me to do, my severe headaches began to diminish tremendously.
I write this letter to you on this day as a man who has been given back his quality of life. While I may not be 100% of where I was before the accident, I can say unequivocally that I am at least 90% there and have every confidence of improving even more.
As I write this letter, I have gone from barely being able to sleep 2-3 hours per night and even then in tremendous pain, to easily sleeping 7-8 hours. I have progressed from waking up with at best a severe headache to virtually no headache at all. I am back to working full 8 and 10 hour days versus barely making it to 3 or 4 hours per day. For the first time in nearly 3 years I am back to playing racquetball, boating, and doing things that I truly thought were not possible any longer.
In short, you gave me back my life. While that statement may seem pretty dramatic I assure you it is nothing less than the actual truth. The severity of the chronic pain I was living with before you treated me touched every corner of my life. My relationships with my friends, my business partner, my kids, and of course my wife were all tremendously impacted by the debilitating pain I was resigned to live with.
I cannot possibly thank you enough for the level of caring and concern you have bestowed upon me as your patient. You have been nothing short of professional, engaging and incredibly knowledgeable. You take the time to explain the issue, the symptoms, and what needs to be done to correct the situation. I could not have been placed in the care of a better healer.
Dr. Schuster, it is not possible for me to adequately convey my sincere appreciation for all you have done. I want to make it clear that this letter, my comments and my history is for you to use in any manner you desire to promote your amazing work. If I can be of any assistance in helping you promote your work further, please do not hesitate to ask. I wish for you success beyond your wildest imagination as I know the patients that come to you and will come to you will be blessed by your healing.
At 41 years old I have run and played sports, without major injury or pain, for 3 decades. But in April of 2008 that changed. I put off the pain in my right knee for several weeks and kept going…. running is such a significant part of what keeps me sane as a teacher and single mother. To stop running was not an option for me. However, by May, the pain was too much and I sought medical help. My pain worsened under that care.
Thankfully, a Tri-athlete and Ironman friend of mine said “don’t give up, you must try Dr. Schuster”. I did in early June.
On our first visit, Dr. Schuster took the time to learn about me, my lifestyle, exercise pattern, history of any previous injury etc. Once he had the ‘picture’ of me complete, he explained the MFDT method to me. Following that came the best words I had heard in months: “If you can stand a little pain from me now, I’ll have you running in the morning”. True to his word, I walked out of his office without pain and I ran the next morning with tears of joy. I can’t explain was a gift that was for me.
At the time of writing this, I am now a month past my first visit with Dr. Schuster. The first half of June I needed several visits to work on the causes of my knee pain, and learn how to strengthen my right leg correctly. After that I went one week between visits. Now I’m on a 2 week interval…soon to be on a “just call me if you need help” basis.
Last week I ran along the cliff trails and in the sand in Newport Beach Ca. Last night I ran the Whitewater Center Trails here in Charlotte. Now I’m back to running with a smile on my face and not wincing in pain. Yeah!
Dr. Schuster’s technique was a lifesaver for me. I can’t recommend him enough and I can’t thank him enough.
Neck and Shoulder Pain
I had suffered with chronic neck and shoulder pain as well as frequent migraines for more than 10 years. My doctor sent me to a physical therapist but it did not help. Next, I went to a chiropractor, often 3 times a week, for over a year. He used the traditional “popping and cracking” technique that many chiropractors use. I would have some relief but it was short lived. The pain quickly returned and at the same level prior to the adjustment. Spending money for temporary relief wasn’t working for me so I stopped seeing the chiropractor and decided that I would just have to live with the pain.
I was introduced to Dr. Schuster and told about the different “state of the art” techniques he used, so I thought I would give it one more shot. After just one visit, I had a significant reduction in the pain, and amazingly to me, it lasted. Knowing that the cause of my neck and shoulder pain hadn’t happened over night, I knew that it also could not be fixed over night. But after just a handful of visits with Dr. Schuster over the last several months, I have no pain for the first time in years! Range of motion has returned, I rarely have a migraine and I feel great.
Dr. Schuster Chiropractic uses a combination of the “Atlas Orthogonal Procedure” with “Myofascial Disruption” as well as traditional chiropractic techniques. He also prescribes exercises that will strengthen the affected areas and help to ensure that the adjustments and relief in pain last. This combination of treatments works. If you have been suffering with pain and have not been able to find lasting relief, I highly recommend you make and appointment with Dr. Marcus Schuster.
